Game #1 Result: Yesterday was opening day for the Drury Blue Devils. We came away with a big victory defeating St. Joseph by a score of 21-3. We had 21 hits which was a "big" surprise. During our four pre season scrimmages we did not hit the ball very well. Our team strenghts this year are pitching and defense.

Our top hitters were Junior Jeff Bourdon with 5 singles and 5 RBI's, Sr. Matt Ziter with 4 hits and 4 RBI's, Sr. John Marlowe, Sr. Nick Randall, Jr. Mike Wood and Soph. Josh Card each hat 2 hits. The winning pitcher was Sr. Chris Lloyd. He went 4 inning giving up 1 hit and 1 unearned run, with 7 K's and 2 BB's. Soph. Mike Wood finished up, giving up 2 unearned runs on 2 hits with 2 K's and 1 BB.

Game #2 Result:Last night we had our first home game of the year against the defending state champions of Vermont, Brattleboro High School. They had 11 returners, so we knew that we were in for a very tough game. The score was Drury 5 Brattleboro 4.

Starting on the mound was Soph. Mike Wood, making his first varsity start. Mike did a great job giving up 4 runs, only 1 earned. He had 12 K's and only 1 BB. Senior John Marlowe came on in relief in the 7th with runners on 2nd and 3rd with no outs. He gave up one hit but retired 3 out of 4 hitters to earn the save. Our top hitters were Jeff Bourdon and Nick Randall who both had two hits.
Our next game is today at 1:00 PM vs Ludlow.

Senior Chris Lloyd (2-0) and headed to UMass on a baseball scholarship was the winning pitcher. He pitched 6 innings and gave up 3 unearned runs on 3 hits, he struck out 12 and walked 5. Senior John Marlowe pitched the 7th for his second save in two days. We ended the game on a 6-4-3 double play. Our top hitter was Jr. Jeff Bourdon who had 4 RBI's on a 3 run double and a sacrifice fly. Senior Matt Ziter was the only Drury player with 2 hits.
We are now 3-0 and we play Mt. Anthony this Saturday at 7:00 PM. On Sunday we play our first round of games in our Spring Baseball Tournament which was postponed. Drury plays Wahconah at 4:00 PM and Momument Mt. plays Mt. Greylock at 1:00 PM.

Drury defeated previously undefeated Mt. Anthony last night under the lights at Joe Wolfe Field. Senior Joel Habel pitched a complete game. He gave up 2 hits and struck out 7 while allowing 0 earned runs. Mt. Anthony scored their 3 runs in the top of the 7th. With 2 outs and the bases loaded when a ball was mishandled in the outfield allowing all 3 runs to score.
Drury had key rbi's hits to contribute to the win. Jeff Bourdon and an rbi double and Mike Wood and Nick Randall had rbi singles. Matt Tatro also had a key rbi in the 6 inning on an infield groundout.
Drury plays again today at 4:00 PM in the Drury Spring Tournament vs Wahconah.

After leading 5-0 after 4 innings and giving up only 1 hit our starting pitcher, Sophomore Mike Wood, lost his control. He hit 1 batter, walked 2, gave up his only hit to go along with an outfield error. At the end of 4 it was 5-3. Senior John Marlowe came in to pitch the 5th. The first batter got on via an infield error and the next batter hit one over the leftfield fence for a 5-5 tie. We then brought in our ace, Senior Chris Lloyd (going to UMass next year on a baseball scholarship) and he finished up going 3 innings, allowing 0 runs and striking out 3. He is now 3-0 and has 22 strikeouts and 0 earned runs on the season. Our top hitter was Joel Habel, going 2 for 4. He, Matt Ziter and Sophomore Josh Card each had 2 RBI's. Drury will play Monument Mt. for the Championship next Sunday, April 28 at 4:00 PM at Joe Wolfe Field.
Our next game is this Tuesday, April 23 at Hoosac Valley starting at 4:00 PM at Renfrew Field.

Game #6 Results: Drury lost their first game of the year yesterday to arch rival Hoosac Valley by a 8-2 score.

Drury scored 2 runs in the second inning on a single by Jesse Boillat and an outfield error to go ahead 2-0. From then on it was all Hoosac Valley. They had 3 doubles and 1 triple and played errorless defense. The Hoosac pitcher held Drury to 2 hits. With the victory Hoosac Valley coach Bob Rivard (Drury baseball alumni class of 1967) recorded his 100 victory.

A combination of good hitting and poor fielding resulted in a 19-2 win over Lenox. Drury's leading hitter was Matt Ziter who had 3 hits including a HR, double and 3 RBI's and scored 4 runs. In addition Matt Tatro had 3 hits and 3 RBI's and Jeff Bourdon, Jesse Boillat and Josh Card each had two hits. The winning pitcher was Joel Habel (3-0). He gave up 2 hits, striking out 5 and allowing no walks or earned runs.
Today's game with Monument Mt. has been called due to the weather and will be played tomorrow (Friday) at 4:15 at Monument Mt..

In a very well played high school baseball game (no errors) and excellent pitching Monument defeated Drury by scoring the only run of the game in the 4th inning via a leadoff base hit followed by a sacrifice bunt. Then with 2 outs and 2 strikes on the batter Monument got the timely hit to score the only run of the game. The losing pitcher was Chris Lloyd (3-2). He pitched well enough to win most games but Drury could not score off the crafty Monument lefty. Our next game in tomorrow night at 7:00 PM at Joe Wolfe Field vs Taconic High School.

Drury came right back with a big win after our tough loss to Monument Mt. on Friday. Drury had 13 hits with Jeff Bourdon, Matt Tatro, John Marlowe and Curtis Gazaille getting 2 hits each. Tatro, Marlowe and Gazaille also had 2 rbi's. The winning pitcher was Jesse Boillat (1-0) who was making his first start of the year. He went 5+ innings giving up 2 runs on 4 hits and striking out 4 and walking 6. Matt Ziter had a fantastic day at shortstop making numerous run saving plays. Our next game is Sunday in the finals of the Drury Spring Tournament vs Monument Mt., the same team that beat Drury 1-0 two days ago.

Drury lost to Monument Mt. for the second time in the past three days. The game was tied 1-1 going into the 7th inning when Monument took advantage of 2 key errors to push across 4 runs. Monument also had 2 key hits with the bases loaded and the infield in.
Mike Wood (1-1) pitched for Drury and actually pitched well enough to win most games. He gave up 5 hits and had 9 strikeouts and 2 walks. Jeff Bourdon had an rbi single in the third inning to tie the score but the Drury bats went cold for the second time this week vs Monument Mt..
Drury's next game is Tuesday night vs Mt. Greylock at Joe Wolfe Field starting at 7:00 PM.

Senior Chris Lloyd pitched a masterful "no hitter" against Mt. Greylock. He had an outstanding fastball and overpowered the Greylock hitters. He struck out the side in the 2nd, 5th and 6th innings. He struck out 13 and walked 4 and only 2 runners reached secondbase. His performance was so overpowering that there were no game saving defensive plays. Drury scored their 4 runs in the first inning. Matt Ziter walked to begin the game and Jesse Boillat single and Jeff Boudon got on via an infield error to load the bases. The first run scored on a wild pitch and Matt Tatro hit a sacrifice fly to score the second run. John Marlow then had an RBI single and Nick Randall double to drive in the final run. Drury was held in check the rest of the game and Lloyd took over. Drury's top hitter was Nick Randall who had 2 doubles in 3 at bats.
Drury's next game is Thursday vs Pittsfield at Clapp Park starting at 4:00 PM.

Drury lost in extra innings to undefeated (in league) Pittsfield. Drury was ahead by a 2-0 score going into the bottom of the 6th. Pittsfield scored 2 earned runs to tie the score. In the bottom on the 9th the leadoff hitter walked and an error by our pitcher on a sacrifice bunt attempt put runners on 1st and 2nd. The next batter walked to load the bases and the game ended on a hard hit single between 1st and 2nd with the infield in. Drury's top hitters were Matt Ziter who was 3 for 4 and Matt Tatro who had a double and a single in 4 at bats.
Drury's next game is Saturday at 1:30 vs Wahconah. This follows the second annual Alumni Game which begins at 10:00 AM.
